Over 10,533 young hunters started their hunting experiences here at the Mecosta County Rod and Gun club. We have providedthis service free of charge for over 46 years. This program is a DNR approved Hunter Safety Certification course that is required of all young hunters. Students in the Big Rapids and Morley-Stanwood school districts are targeted for this course. The course will teach students about hunter safety, ethics and good sportsmanship. Additionally, students will have hands on experience shooting shotguns, rifles, bow and arrows, and black powder rifles. Adults are encouraged to attend with their children
The classes meet during the week of the session on Tuesdays from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Thursdays from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM and Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM
